Dr. Katalin Balázsi, the Head of Thin Film Physics Department, Institute of Technical Physics and Materials Science, Centre for Energy Research of Eötvös Loránd Research Network, was awarded by Acta Materialia “Mary Fortune Diversity Medal” 2021 for ” important activities she participates in and organizes for the promotion and representation of women in the materials science and engineering field”.

The Acta Materialia Mary Fortune Global Diversity Medal recognizes Materials Science and Engineering. With this distinction Acta Materialia, Inc. not only intends to honor outstanding contributions to the field but also to improve the awareness of the fundamental importance and diversity of materials research, both within the community and the public at large.

The Acta Materialia Mary Fortune Global Diversity Medal consists of a silver medal, an inscribed certificate, and a cash prize of US$5,000.

Dr. Balázsi will receive the Acta Materialia Mary Fortune Global Diversity Medal during the 2021 TMS Spring Meeting to be held in Orlando, Florida in March 2021.
